TWELVE JYOTHIR LINGAS

ഭാരതത്തിൽ പന്ത്രണ്ടു സ്ഥലങ്ങളിൽ ജ്യോർലിംഗങ്ങക്ഷേത്രങ്ങൾ കാണപ്പെടുന്നു .

In India you can see JYOTHIRLINGAS in twelve places
1 .  ശ്രീ  സോമനാഥൻ

ഗുജറാത്തിൽ പാപശപട്ടണംഎന്ന സ്ഥാലത്ത്    അറബിക്കടലിൻ്റെ തീരത്താണ്    ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നത്.
  ഇവിടെ ശിവഭഗവാനെ സോമേശ്വരൻ , ചന്ദ്രശേഖരൻ എന്നും അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു
"യത്ര ഗംഗാച യമുനാ യത്ര പ്രാചീ സരസ്വതി
 യത്ര സോമേശ്വരോ ദേവസ്‌ തത്ര വാരമൃതം കൃതീൻ
ത്രായന്തോ പരമീശ്വര : "       ഋഗ് വേദം

എവിടെ ഗംഗയും , യമുനയും ,സരസ്വതി നദിയും ഒന്നുചേരുന്നോ  അവിടെയാണ്  സോമനാഥൻ പ്രത്യക്ഷനായി കാണപ്പെടുന്നത്

1. SRI SOMANADHAN  

This temple is situated at GUJARAT . PAPASAPATTANAM is the exact location near the sea shore of Arabian sea. The deity is known by other two names such as SOMESWARAN & CHANDRASEKARAN

The shrine is situated at the place where the three holy rivers such as GANGA, YAMUNA & SARASWATHY  unites

2 .  ശ്രീ മല്ലികാർജ്ജുന ലിംഗം 

ആന്ധ്രാപ്രേദേശിൽ കർണ്ണൻ എന്ന സ്ഥാലത്ത് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നു . ശിവനും ശക്തിയും സഹവസിക്കുന്ന ഏക ജ്യോതിർലിംഗ സ്ഥാലമാണിത്. ഭക്‌തർ തൊട്ടു വന്ദിച്ചു സ്വായം അഭിഷേകാരാധന കൾ ചെയ്യുന്ന ക്ഷേത്രമാണിത് .സകുടുംബം ദർശനം നടത്തുന്നവർ  വെള്ളം , തേൻ , പനിനീർ ,ചന്ദനം  , ഭസ്മം എന്നിവകൊണ്ട് അഭിഷേകവും കൂവളത്തില കൊണ്ട് അർച്ചനയും ചെയ്യുന്നൂ

2. SRI MALLIKARJUNA LINGAM

This temple is located at KARNAL a village in  ANDRAPRADESH  district.  Here LOAD SIVA and his wife SAKTHI unites. This is the only temple among JYOTHIRLINGAS were Load SIVA & MATA PARVATHY  are giving dersan together . All the rituals can be done by the devotees themselves, They can do offerings such as Abishekam & Archana by even touching the shrine.

3 . ശ്രീ ഉജ്ജയിനി മഹാകാളലിംഗം 

മധ്യപ്രദേശിലെ ശിപ്രാ നദീ തീരത്തു ഉജ്ജയിനി നഗരത്തിൽ സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നൂ
കലിയുഗത്തിൽ അവസാനസമയത്ത്    അവതരിച്ച് എല്ലാ അത്മാകൾക്കും
മുക്തി കൊടുക്കുകയും സന്ധിധാമത്തിലേക്ക് കൂട്ടികൊണ്ടു പോകുന്നു അതിനാലാണ് ഇവിടെ ഭഗവാനെ മഹാകാലേശ്വരൻ  എന്നു അറിയപ്പെടുന്നത്
ചരിത്ര പരമായി വളരെ അധികം പ്രാധാന്യം ഉള്ള ക്ഷത്രമാണിത്

3. SRI UJAINI MAHAKALA LINGAM

This temple is situated at MADYAPREDESH  . UJAINI  is the exact location near the bank of SIPRA RIVER
At the end of KALIYUGA Lord will give MUKTHI to all GIVA-ATMAS. Finally take them to 'SANDHIDHAMAM' hence Load is called as MAHAKALESWARAN

UJAINI  has  high historical significance

4 . ശ്രീ ഓംകാരേശ്വരലിംഗം

മധ്യപ്രദേശിൽ വിന്ധ്യ പർവ്വതത്തിനടുത്തുള്ള നർമ്മദാ നദിയിലെ ദ്യുപിൽ ഈ ക്ഷേ ത്രം സ്ഥിതിചെയ്‌യുന്നു

ഓംകാരേശ്വരൻ സ്വയംഭൂവാണ് . ഓംകാര അമലേശ്വരൻ എന്നും അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു . ശിവപുരാണം , സ്കന്ദപുരാണം ,മഹാഭാരതം എന്നീ ഗ്രന്ഥങ്ങളിൽ ഓംകാരേശ്വര മഹിമ വർണിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്

4. SRI OHMKARESWARA  LINGAM

This temple is located at an ISLAND of river NARMADA near VINDHYA MOUNTAIN at  MADHYA PREDESH district. 
This deity is SWAMBHOO, means it originated by itself. Known by another name too as 'OHMKARA AMELESWARAN'
We can see the reference of this temple in SIVAPURANA, SKANDAPURANA, and MAHABHARATHA

5. ശ്രീ വൈദ്യാനാഥലിംഗം

ജാർഖണ്ഡിൽ ദേവ്കർ എന്ന സ്ഥാലത്താ ണ്  വൈദ്യാനാഥം എന്ന ജ്യോതിർലിംഗം സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നത്

കാമ ക്രോധ ലോഭ വികാരങ്ങൾക്കു അടിമയായി ദുഖത്തിൽ ജീവിതം നയിക്കുന്ന മനുഷ്യർക്കു ജ്ഞാ നാമൃതം കൊടുകോ ടുത്ത് അമരന്മാരായി മാറ്റിയതുകൊണ്ട് വൈദ്യനാഥൻ എന്ന പേരിൽ അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു

ശിവപുരാണം , പദ്‌മപുരാണം ,ബ്രഹ്മാണ്ഡപുരാണം ,മത്സ്യപുരാണം ,കാളികാപുരാണം , ദേവീഭാഗവതം എന്നീ ഗ്രന്ഥങ്ങളിൽ വൈദ്യാനാഥലിംഗ
 മഹിമ വർണിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്

5. SRI VIDYA NADHA LINGAM

Situated at JARCAND at DEVKER village. 

The people who are suffering from sensual feelings such as luster, anger, desire etc are cured by giving eternal piece , hence called 'VIDYANADHAN' 

We can see the reference of this temple in SIVAPURANA, PADMAPURANAM, BRAHMANDAPURANAM, MATSYAPURANAM, KALIKAPURANAM,, and DEVIBHAGAVATHAN

6 . ശ്രീ ഭീമാശങ്കര ലിംഗം

മഹാരാഷ്ട്രയിൽ പൂനയുടെ  അടുത്ത്  ബേവാഗിരി എന്ന സ്ഥാലത്ത് സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നു. സമുദ്രനിരപ്പിൽനിന്നും 3000 അടി ഉയരത്തിൽ   ഈ ക്ഷേ ത്രം സ്ഥിതിചെയ്‌യുന്നു
ശിവപുരാണത്തിൽ അറിയപ്പെടുന്ന ഭീമൻ എന്ന അസുരനുണ്ട് . അയാളുടെ പേരിൽ അറിയപ്പെടുന്ന പുണ്യസ്ഥാലമാണ് ഭീമാശങ്കരം

ശിവലിലാമൃതം , ഗുരുചരിത്രം , സ്തോ ത്ര രത്‌നാകരം, ശിവമഹാപുരാണം     എന്നീ ഗ്രന്ഥങ്ങളിൽ ഭീമാശങ്കരം മഹിമ വർണിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്

6. SRI BHIMA SANKARA LINGAM

Situated at Maharastra near PUNAE  at the village known as BEVAGIRI.
Temple is situated at a hight of 3000ft from sealevel.

In Sivapurana, threr is a charector called Bhima. This shrine is known by his name and as Bhimasankaram.

References are there in Sivaleelamritham, Gurucharithram, Stotraretnakaram and Sivapuranam

7 . ശ്രീ രാമേശ്വര ലിംഗം

രാമനാഥപുരം എന്ന സംസ്ഥാനത്തിൽ രാമേശ്വരം എന്ന സ്ഥാലത്തു സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നു
താമ്രവർണ്ണി നദി സംഗമിക്കുന്ന സമുദ്രത്തിൽ ബാണങ്ങളാൽ അണകെട്ടി ശ്രീരാമനാൽ പ്രതിഷ്ഠിക്കപ്പെട്ട് പൂജിക്കപ്പെട്ട ക്ഷേത്രമാണ് രാമേശ്വരം. ശ്രീരാമന് ശക്തി പ്രദാനം ചെയ്‌തവനായ തുകൊണ്ട് രാമേശ്വരൻ എന്ന് അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു

ചതുരത്തിൽ നിർമ്മിക്കപ്പെട്ട നാലുഭാഗത്തും  ഗോപുരമുള്ള ഈ തീർത്ഥത്തിൽ 24 വിശേഷതീർത്ഥങ്ങളുമുണ്ട്

മനുഷ്യരുടെ പാപങ്ങൾ നീക്കുന്ന പുണ്യസ്‌ഥലം പ്രിതൃകൾക്കു മോക്ഷം നൽകുന്ന  പുണ്യസ്‌ഥലം.  പ്രിതൃതർപ്പണത്തിന്  വളരെ അധികം പ്രാധാന്യം ഉള്ള  ക്ഷേത്രമാണ്

ഋഗ്‌വേദം , യജുർവേദം , മത്സ്യപുരാണം , ബ്രഹ്മാണ്ഡപുരാണം , വിഷ്ണുപുരാണം , കാലികാ പുരാണം , ദേവീപുരാണം , ഭാഗവതം ,സ്കന്ദപുരാണം , പദ്‌മപുരാണം ,രാമായണം എന്നീ ഗ്രന്ഥങ്ങളിൽ രാമേശ്വര  മഹിമ വർണിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്

7. SRI RAMESWARA LINGAM

Situated at RAMANADPURAM district at RAMESWARAM. At the place where Thamraparni river joins ocean , SRI RAMA made a barrier with arows. He placed Load Siva there and done ritchuals. Since this shrine provides strength to Sri Rama , this temple is known as Rameswaram

This temple is construced as square, with four Gopurams. This theertha contains twenty four other theerthas too

If we pray here all sins are removed  attain salvation. Same in the case of the atma of dead people too. Hence this shrine has high importance in kaliyuga

Reference are in Rigveda, Yagur veda, Matsya purana, Brahmanda purana, Vishnu Purana, Kalika purana, Devi Purana, Bhagavatham, Skandapuranam, Padmapuranam, and Ramayana

8 . ശ്രീ നാഗേശ ലിംഗം

ഗുജറാത്തിൽ സദംഗം എന്ന നഗരത്തിലാണ് നാഗേശ്വരക്ഷേ ത്രം സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നത്‌
ശില്പകലകൾക്കു പ്രസിദ്ധമാണ് ഈ ക്ഷേ ത്രം


കലിയുഗത്തിൽ മനിഷ്യരിലുള്ള വികാരങ്ങളാകുന്ന സർപ്പങ്ങളെ യോഗ ശക്‌തികൊണ്ട് ഭസ്മമാക്കി സത്യമായ സുഖം അനുഭവിക്കാനുള്ള വഴി കാണിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടുണ്ടായ പേരാണി ത്

8. SRI NAGESWARA LINGAM

Located at Gujarat in a city called SADMGAM
Famous for sculptures especially rock sculpture

In kaliyuga all the unnecessary sensual thoughts of humans are destroyed and give eternal peace , hence called as Nageswara

9 .ശ്രീ വിശ്വനാഥലിംഗം (കാശിക്ഷേത്രം)

 

ഉത്തർപ്രദേശിൽ  ഗംഗാനദീ തീരത്ത്  കാശിക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നു ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന് മുക്തി ക്ഷേത്രം എന്നും പറയും


സത്യയുഗം എന്ന ലോകം ശ്രീപരമേശ്വരൻ  സൃഷ്ഠിക്കുന്നതു കാശിയിൽ വച്ചായതിനാൽ ഈ ലിംഗത്തെ വിശ്വനാഥൻ എന്നുവിളിക്കുന്നു

ഒരുകാലത്ത് അറുപതുകോടി ലിംഗങ്ങൾ കാശിയിൽ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നതായി പറയപ്പെടുന്നു
ബ്രഹ്മാവ് പ്രതിഷ്ഠിച്ച സംഗമേശ്വരൻ , വിഷ്ണു സ്ഥാപിച്ച ഹിരണ്യ ഗർഭൻ , സ്വയംഭൂവായ സ്വർലിനേശ്വരർ , ചാരുകേശ്വരർ ,മുക്കേശ്വരർ ,ഉപശാന്ത ശീലർ ,  കദംബേശ്വര ർ  എന്നിവ ഏതാനും ലിംഗങ്ങളാണ്

9. SRI VISWA NADHA LINGAM  ( KASI )

Situated at Utter Predesh on the bank of river Ganges. Is called as 'MUKTHI KESTHRAM' 

Load Siva is creating satyayuga at Kasi , hence called as VISWANADHAN

It is said that once there where sixty crores of lingas at Kasi

Lingas such as Somasekharan by Brahma, Hiranyagarbhan by Vishnu, Swayambhoo Swarlineswaran , Charukeswarar, Mukkeswarar, Upasantaseelar. Kadambeswarar can be seen there.

10 . ശ്രീ ത്രയംബകേശ്വരലിംഗം

മഹാരാഷ്ട്രയിൽ നാസിക് എന്നറിയപ്പെടുന്ന പഞ്ചവടിക്കടുത്താണ്
ബ്രഹ്മഗിരി എന്ന മലയിൽ ഗോദാവരി നദി ഉത്ഭവിക്കുന്ന സ്ഥാലത്താണ് ഈ  ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതിചയ്യുന്നത് ഇവിടെ മൂന്ന് ലിംഗങ്ങൾ ഒന്നിച്ചു നിലകൊള്ളുന്നു

ത്രിയംബകം എന്നാൽ മൂന്നുവിധത്തിൽ  ഉള്ള സ്വരുപാത്തോടുകൂടിയത്  എന്ന  അർത്ഥമാകുന്നു . ബ്രഹ്മാവ് , വിഷ്ണു , മഹേശ്വരൻ ചേർന്ന് ഒരേ പീഠത്തിൽ ഇരിക്കുന്നു
 ത്രയംബകേശ്വരരുടെ ഇടതു വലതു വശങ്ങളിൽ ബ്രഹ്മാവും വിഷ്ണുവും ഇരിക്കുന്നു ഇത്തരം ജ്യോതിർലിംഗം ഇവിടെ മാത്രമാണുള്ളത്

10. SRI TRIAMBEKESWARA LINGAM

Situated at state of Maharastra  in Nasic a hill station called Brahmagiri. Here river Godhavari orginates .Here three Lingas are seen together.

Triambekam means having three forms. Here Brahma, Visnu and Load Siva seated together on a same platform

Brama & Vishnu are sitting on the right and left side of Load Siva. No where else we can see this type of Linga

11 .  ശ്രീ കേദാർനാഥ ലിംഗം

 

ഹിമാലയത്തിൽ 3583 മീറ്റർ ഉയരത്തിൽ സുമേരു എന്ന സ്ഥാലത്താണ്  കേദാർനാഥ്‌  ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതിചയ്യുന്നത്


ഈ മലയിൽ രുദ്രഹിമാലയം ,വിഷ്ണുപുരി ,ബ്രഹ്മപുരി ,ഉത്കാലികാണ്ഡ ,സ്വർഗാരോഹിണി ഇനീ അഞ്ചു ശിഖരങ്ങളുണ്ട് പുണ്യതീർത്ഥങ്ങളായ ഗംഗ , യമുന , സിന്ധു ബ്രഹ്മപുത്ര ഇനീ നദികൾ ഇവിടെ നിന്നാണ്  ഉത്ഭ വിക്കുന്നത്

11. SRI KEDARNADHA LINGAM

Kedarnath Shrine is situated at 3583 meter above sea level at Himalaya. The exact location is named as Sumeru.

This range of mountain includes five sikhas such as Rudra himalaya, Vishnu Puri , Brahma Puri, Uthalikanda , Swargarohini 

The devine rivers such as Ganga, Yamuna, Sindhu and Brahmaputra originates from here.

12 . ശ്രീ ഘ്യഷ്ണേശ്വരം    

 


മഹാരാഷ്ട്രയിൽ ഔരംഗാബാദിനടുത്തു ദേവഗിരി എന്ന സ്ഥാലത്താണ് വേരുൾ എന്ന ഗ്രാമത്തിലാണ് ഘ്യഷ്ണേശ്വരം  ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതിചയ്യുന്നത്

ഭക്തയുട പേരിനാൽ  ഘ യു  ശ് മേശ്വരർ  എന്നും
പാർവതി ദേവി കുംഭ പൂ കൊണ്ട് അർച്ചന ചെയ്ത തിനാൽ ഘ്യഷ്ണേശ്വരർ
എന്നും പേരുവന്നു

12. SRI HRISHNESWARAM

Hrishneswaram Shrine is situated at Aurangabad  in Maharashtra district.  Exact location is at Verul a small village at  Devagiri.
